Yet another great week trout fishing on the Kola Peninsula is over. The weather was varied with warm and cold periods, some rain and a lot of wind. The group consisted of (see picture from left to right) Igor, Roar, Christian, Trond, Olivier, Geir and Pål. Considering the wind and the early time of the year, the fishing was very good. Except for a one hour caddis hatch one evening, we had only minor hatches and not a lot of rising fish.
We caught 82 fish above 1kg, four of us caught a fish above 4 kg, one of these a 5 kg monster trout caught by Christian. Five of us caught a new personal record trout. Most of the fish was caught on dry flies and nymphs. During most of our stay at Scones the wind was so strong that we were only able to go downstream with the boat one of the days. This made it a bit crowdy at the Sami cabin.
Almost everyone wants to be back next year.
