We had a challenging week with big rising water and cold conditions. It was a bit like fishing in Gin&Tonic water under icy rain! The Rynda River reached its peak and then stayed at this huge level whole week. This along with cold (1.5C) water temps kept most of the salmon down at the lower Sea pool. With water levels peaking back on their opening day at a massive 149cm which is about a meter higher than normal for this time of year, the group stared out the windows in amazement at the swollen rivers below and pondered their chances upon arrival -’like finding a needle in a haystack’. It seemed pretty obvious from the moment Jamie paraded off the helicopter in his kilt followed by the rest of team Scotland along with our friends from New Zealand, America, Japan, Austria and England – that we would be in for another actioned packed week with all the silver bells and whistles. With the droning sound of the MI 8 approaching over the tundra we say goodbye to yet another group at Rynda. It’s always great to have return guest as they have already identified this as a special camp and a deeper sense of appreciation is evident. What better way to say goodbye to the tundra with 1000’s of Reindeer surrounding camp. We have fond memories of some great fish caught this week.
