Kharlovka week 24 ending 15th of june 2018
Conditions last week went from good to great. Air temps were in the high single digits over the opening weekend followed by a brief cold snap with some snow flurries early week before the temps shot back up to 15+C for the final two days of the week. Water temps improved slowly from 4.9C to 7.0C while the levels dropped slowly over the week from 38cm down to 30cm on the home pool scale.
Fishing results were consistent throughout with some 20 good salmon to start the first weekend. The fishing improved with the weather changes during the week with the team going on to average about 20 a day for a total of 116 salmon for 12 guests on the week. The largest salmon were 29, 29, 29, 29, 32 pounds! With the warming temps, the fishermen were moving mostly floating lines by the end of the week. The most productive flies were: Sun Rays, Snealdas, Cascades, Willie Gunns, Green Highlanders and Jock Scotts.
Team Scotland arrived to camp all charged up and ready to go wearing their traditional kit. They were greeted by Volodya the camp boss who was made an honorary member many years ago. These boys are all ASR veterans. In addition to pulling in many great salmon – they also know how to have a laugh! Teaming up with their old friend and guide Volodya – Jamie and Allan landed some nice salmon including a couple of 25 and 29 pounders for Jamie.
There were Big silver highlights all around last week – including Mikhail’s stunning PB 29 pounder on the bottom of the Litza to start the week.
Special mention also goes out to our good friend Grigory who released four 22 pounders on the Litza!
Johannes had the magic touch again this season landing 20 – 29 – and 32 pounders!!! There was no photo of the 29 pounder as Johannes only breaks the camera out for 30+ers…
Chris and Bob combined for 21 including a PB 25 pounder for Chris early week that he went on to break with a fine 29.5 pounder. Bob featured in the video highlights by saying that he ‘Will never forget the day at the Kharlovka Falls – Never!’
Good fishing and good friends = great week!
