Kharlovka web report for the week 23 ending Friday 8 June
Cool conditions and silver springers all round!

Wind – rain – sleet and snow with air temps in the low single digits couldn’t hold back our latest group of mostly ASR veterans who managed to release 60 good salmon during the week. Water temps rose slightly from 4.2C up to 5.8C before cooling back down to 4.6C on the final session – while the water levels slowly dropped 14cm during the week from 55cm to 41cm on the home pool scale.

Although the boys started a bit slow, the winds began to die down by mid week and salmon were rolling in.

The fresh conditions didn’t hold Chuck back, who landed at least one nice salmon everyday to the end, including a few memorable 21 -21 and 23.5 pounders. All warmed up, Chuck is looking forward to fishing again next week on the Rynda.

Honourable mention also goes to our good friend Allan who broke his rod on the 3rd cast before going on to redeem himself with a fine 20 pounder. Allan and Ulrik were also just warming up and will be returning for round II on the Kharlovka later in July.

Our Swiss friends Ulrich and Thomas were back again for back to back weeks on the Kharlovka and Rynda. Last week the pair teamed up for 19 good salmon!

And special mention to Paul – Alex and John who all had some nice fish.

Always nice to see DT who has been returning back to Kharlovka nearly every spring since the camp opened and records began way back in 1992! This certainly wasn’t his first 20 pounder from the Home pool..

And then there was Big Dave the other veteran who can cast like a golf pro hits a drive – landing 5 solid 20+ pounders on the week.

Following last year’s early spring blowout, it was wonderful to see all our good friends back in action last week!

With an improving forecast and plenty of Big salmon rolling into the rivers – next week should be interesting.
