Trout Fishing Report Week 33A – 2013

Scones Kharlovka & Swan Isles Litza Our week was very good in every way. We caught totally 48 fish above 1 kilo with a lot between 1,8 and 2,5 kg. The biggest fish was about 2,8 and a very nice one. Igor was our “head chef” this week and made very nice food, told some very funny jokes and came with a lot of fishing tips regarding the camps. We knew that the water level was very low and the water temperature was quite high, but still we managed to catch a great deal of...

Trout Fishing Week 32 (Rynda) – 2013

Rynda Six eager trout anglers arrived at Ryndacamp and were flown to upper Rynda for a week of trout fishing. The condition was not at its best. Almost three months without rain is not optimal. The river was low, the water temperature around 20 degrees Celsius. The first night we experienced some rising, mainly on caddis hatching. Fish were caught, and every one was smiling. After some days fishing we found that the fish preferred standing in running water, and rising was...

Trout Fishing Week 32D – 2013

We started in Litza at Mystic and the water was very low and warm as expected. There were a few fish rising late in the evening, but no hatches. We managed to catch a few fish and almost all were taken between the rocks downstream of the camp. During daytime we watched large trout in the “aquarium” close to the camp. The fish was not rising and did not seem to eat at all during daytime. They were occupied by chasing each other around and it is always interesting to watch...

Trout Fishing Week 32A – 2013

Trophy Trout In front of this years trip to Russia and Kola we had heard a lot of rumors about “never seen this water level”, “the heat is on”, “sparse hatching” and so on. All this rumors made us prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We knew that we had to face difficult fishing conditions and that it could be tricky. But tricky doesn’t have to be negative. Tricky means that we had to think different from previous years. Less water means smaller flies. Our group was...

Trout Fishing Week 30B – 2013

The short story was that 4 experienced fly-fishermen had great fishing catching 72 trout larger than 1 kg (best 4,1kg) during extreme low water conditions at Dream Kharlovka with water temperature ranging from 12-14 degrees C. This year was really joyful with a new and unexpected challenge in terms of fishing the low waters. Many thanks to Kharlovka Company and our guide. The group (from left): Alf Sollund (Norway – group leader), Genady Shelayg (Russia, our guide), Martin...

Trout Fishing Week 29B – 2013

Running Pool & Pina. Group Leader: André Brun This has been a fantastic week in many ways. Fishing with a very nice group of flyfishers, I’ve met some life-long friends during this week. We’ve had a great time together; fishing a lot, but also laughing a lot. A lot. Telling stories, and recapitulating todays happenings into the late hours. Every day. Having a good time in between all the fishing, is also a good part of a great flyfishing experience. That...

Trout Fishing Week 28D – 2013

Rynda Mystic From left: Joakim, Rupert, Jan Erik, Vasillijev, Kjetil (group leader), Marius and Torleiv (sitting) The tundra adventure started with heavy rain and wind. We had a hard time getting the tents and lavo up. The lower Rynda camp is nice and has a stretch of river just outside the camp. Our English salmon fisher, now dedicated trout boum, Rupert caught the biggest around 2,5 kilos at Rynda. We took the boat downstream over the lake and fished the river and pools....

Trout Fishing Week 27 – 2013

Running Litza and Lower Pina Group from the left: Marie, Trond, Geir, Christian, Olivier, chef/guide Igor and group leader Pål When we landed at the Running Camp we already knew a lot about the conditions as I had already been on the tundra for one week with my canoe group. The temperature in the water was 22C and the water level low. We did not have any hatches except for a caddis now and then and an occasional mayfly, but this was enough to get a few fish rising. On the...
