Three rivers report for week 35/36/37 ending 14h of September 2018

Three Rivers. Week 35. Low water autumn conditions on the ASR coincided with a decision by the military authorities to conduct exercises within the restricted zone of the Northern Kola Peninsula leaving us with no alternative but to cancel the fishing trips for a number of our foreign guests. Whilst saddened and frustrated to have disappointed old friends in this way, a small number of old Russian friends were still most welcomed as always. It also offered us an unexpected...

Kharlovka web report for week 32 ending 10th of August 2018

At last! The heat wave finally let up just days before youth team arrived for what would turn out to be a most jolly and productive fishing week. Temps really started to heat up about 10th of July this season which led to an extended period of bright sunny skies and water temps rising over 20C. While the rivers remained at record low levels, thankfully everything cooled back down just before the young lads arrived who were blessed with mild conditions for the week with...

Kharlovka web report for week 31 ending 3rd of August 2018

Our latest group of experienced fishing friends from mostly Norway – France and Russia arrived a brief brake in the heat wave with mild temps to start the first weekend before a few more days of bright hot conditions that were finally replaced some dark clouds and good rain and a final day result of 29 salmon to end the week. Despite the pockets of heavy rain, water levels remain very low. Despite the challenging conditions for the majority of last week this was...

Kharlovka week 30 ending 27th of july 2018

Last week was the hottest week on record for the ASR. Following on from exceptionally warm conditions the previous week, temps remained into the 30′s until the final day. Rains had been forecasted for late week which unfortunately never materialised however the breezes did shift to cool things down slightly on the final days. Fishing mostly early and late (with everyone including the salmon avoiding the mid day sun) – the team of mostly experienced ASR guests...

Kharlovka week 29 ending 20th of july 2018

The heat wave that has been affecting UK – Scandinavia and much of Europe (and other places) has finally reached the Arctic circle on the far northern coast of the Kola Peninsula. While guests arrived last week to mild temps that started off pleasant in the low teens, bright sunny conditions and warm southern breezes proceeded to push up the mercury well into the 30′s for the remainder of the week. The rivers followed suit dropping 9cm and warming into the low...

This week we welcomed a hugely international group of fishermen to Kharlovka Camp, where our tent poles were adored with the flags of Russia, the United States, Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and Japan. It’s a wonderful thing when a love of salmon fishing is able to connect people from all corners of the globe. Fishermen were greeted by extremely favourable overhead conditions at the beginning of the week – overcast skies and cool air...

ASR web report for weeks 25 and 26 ending Friday 29 June

Young fishers visit the ASR. Unfortunately we received short notice that the military authorities would conduct operations within the restricted zone of the Northern Kola Peninsula during the two week period of 16th – 30th June 2018. As a consequence, we were deeply disappointed not to be able to welcome our regular guests/friends on to these weeks. However, Vladimir and the staff were delighted to be able to seize the chance to provide a unique and unexpected opportunity...

Kharlovka web report for the week 23 ending Friday 8 June Cool conditions and silver springers all round! Kharlovka week 22 ending 1st of June 2018

The mighty Kharlovka is open! Photo of frozen tundra and lakes approx 30 south of Barents Sea. Very little snow remains along the coast. In contrast to last year’s unprecedented late spring high water conditions, our fishing friends were welcomed back to camp this season under more ‘normal’ conditions. Water levels on our first week started out at 91cm – dropping 34cm during the week down to 57cm on the home pool scale. To give you some idea, water...
