Trout Fishing Report 3D – 2019

Canoeing on the upper Rynda We started high up in the upper Rynda, close to “Great lakes”. Although the river and nature in general was very scenic a few important things were missing: Hatching insects and rising fish. Water temperature was around 12C which should be good. We were able to catch a few fish on streamers and the “village idiot” fish was the only one rising and being caught on dry fly. After two days we moved downstream to Lake Torosman. During the move we had...

Kharlovka week 24 ending 14th of june 2019

With military exercises affecting the first 2 weeks of the season, along with an unknown number of following weeks, we were especially delighted to see our old friends touch down into the Kharlovka camp! The conditions upon arrival on the opening Saturday were excellent with air temps well into the 20′s which drove water temps up to 10C with a water level of 41cm. The next morning the winds had shifted with cool air temps back down into the low single digits while the...

Rynda week 24 ending 14th of June 2019

The spring here at Rynda this year was fast and powerful. Rynda river opened from ice about May 9th and on May 15th there was a pick of spring flood. After that the water level was gradually falling down. When we started our first fishing week on June 8th the conditions were pretty friendly. Water temp was unusually warm +10C and water level quite low for this early spring week. Therefore, our first group of good Rynda friends had most of pools below First Fall fishable. As...

2018 ASR Salmon Season Summary

The 2018 has been fascinating with weeks that reminded us both of how special these remarkable rivers can be, but also of how finely balanced nature can be, when the heatwave that swept Europe also visited the Arctic tundra in July. In addition, the vagaries of our unique location also meant that we were briefly but once more reminded that the remote and controlled zone in which our rivers flow has the occasional frustration to go hand in hand with the many advantages that...

Three rivers report for week 35/36/37 ending 14h of September 2018

Three Rivers. Week 35. Low water autumn conditions on the ASR coincided with a decision by the military authorities to conduct exercises within the restricted zone of the Northern Kola Peninsula leaving us with no alternative but to cancel the fishing trips for a number of our foreign guests. Whilst saddened and frustrated to have disappointed old friends in this way, a small number of old Russian friends were still most welcomed as always. It also offered us an unexpected...
