Rynda week 32 ending 10th of August 2018

The weather! It changed after a month of hot sunny weather to something more likely you expect at the north coast of the Kola Peninsula! The air temp went down to 10-12C and the water temp responded quickly – reduced from 17C to 12C. The only problem was a very low water. But anyway, this big weather change made fishing life much easier. Now our international team from all over the world was searching for fish with enthusiasm, experimenting with fishing tactic and flies....

Trout Fishing Report 5c – 2018

When we left Sweden, the weather was so hot. It had been over 30°C for over two months and we were anticipating some northern cold. Did we get it? Nooo! We arrived in Pina after travelling for about 36 hours. The feeling when the sound of the helicopter fades out and we’re alone is hard to describe. Freedom! Happiness! Excitement! Expectations! In the group was two rookies and three experienced Kola fishermen. This would absolutely be a week to remember! And we will...

Rynda week 31 ending 3rd of August 2018

The very hot and low water season is the often topic for salmon anglers’ conversations this year. New international French-UK-USA-Swiss team was dealing with the most difficult conditions. The water level reached its absolute minimum this week. Even short rain did not move the level up. Nevertheless, the team did well, trying to find fish in rapids and small pockets. The most productive beat was Saami and down stream. Using all small hitched Sunrays and Golden Killer our...

Rynda week 30 ending 27th of July 2018

This week our old German-French-British fishing friends were fishing at Rynda. Again, as the previous week, the challenge was – fishing in the hottest ever conditions. Both rivers Rynda and Zolotaya were losing 2-3 cm each day and by the end of the week reached a difficult low level. Low water together with cloudless bright sky rose the water temp up to 21C. Despite all of that, our team had 60 fish and many lost, so it was tough but good fun. One important moment happened...

Trout Fishing Report 6B – 2018

21st – 28th of July. This year we had the pleasure to visit both camp Dream Litza and Wulfs Lear. Camps I’ve visited with great luck on several other occations. Our expectations were somewhat limited as it was reported of extreme heat, low water levels and high water temperatures. Although we were prepared to do the hard work we needed to despite the difficult conditions. Overall, we caught 42 fish above 1kg during the week with an average weight of 2kg. The group (from...

Trout Fishing Report 7A – 2018

ASR Trophy Trout „Little Wallis“ in the russian tundra. Usualy if Igor, our great “chef de cuisine”, ignites several signal rockets into the blue sky you should get alert to handle a) the approaching bears, b) the approaching helicopter for the pickup…. But on August 2018, 1st this was the sign for Benjamin, Joel, Kevin, Robin and Sascha (5 highly motivated swiss tundra-greenhorns) and me, their groupleader Christoph to celebrate the national celebration day of swiss...

Trout Fishing Report 3C – 2018

From left Harald Oterholt, Gena (chef), Svein Røbergshagen, Marius Warnken, Pål Asbjørn Jørgensen, Jon Erlend Dahlen. We arrived the fabolous Pina River on a bright sunny evening, mentally leaning on a description of the seasonal progression just as it used to be in the old days. In other words pretty much normal. The weather good, the temperature nice and the water level at midpoint, not high, not low. and a water temp of 13 degrees. Well, there is no reason to believe...

Trout Fishing Report 5A – 2018

By group leader Alf M Sollund The Kola fishing is each time a unique experience, this year we went to Dream Kharlovka during week 29 (14th – 21nd of July 2018). Six avid fly fishermen caught 109 trout larger than 1 kg with largest 3,7 kg. Again our warmest thanks to Mr. Kola, our guide Luganscky Volodya and the rest at Kharlovka Company. The group (from left): Frank Pedersen (Norway), Steinar Simonsen (Norway), Hans Eilif Larsen (Norway), Luganscky Volodya (Russia, our...
